Getting started

1. Open the app and replace the sample text with your own, or import a script file.
2. Open Options and choose a scroll mode — Voice Follow, Time, or Manual. For Voice Follow, pick your recognition language.
3. Press Start speaking.
4. For Voice Follow, approve the microphone explanation and Android's permission prompt.

Your reading position is saved automatically. When you reopen a script, you'll be offered the option to resume where you left off.

Importing and exporting scripts

Use New file in the script library, or import an existing document. Supported import formats are .txt, .md, .pdf, .doc, and .docx.

My file doesn't appear in the picker

The import uses Android's system document picker, so it shows whatever providers your device exposes. Google Drive files appear only if Drive is installed and signed in. If a file is greyed out, its type isn't one of the five supported formats — save or export it as .txt or .docx first.

A PDF imported with strange spacing

PDFs store layout, not paragraphs, so heavily formatted files (multi-column layouts, slide exports, scanned pages) can produce odd line breaks. Scanned PDFs that contain images rather than text will import as empty. A .docx or .txt source will always give a cleaner result.

Getting a script back out

Export as .txt, or share the script's text through Android's share sheet to any app that accepts plain text.

Voice Follow isn't tracking well

Voice Follow uses the bundled offline model for English and Android's selected speech service for other languages or automatic fallback. Work through these checks in order:

• Check the recognition language. It must match the language you're actually speaking, not the language of your phone's interface.
• For non-English languages, check Android's speech service. An on-device language pack is faster, works offline, and does not depend on network conditions.
• Confirm the microphone permission is granted in Android's app settings — and that no other app is holding the microphone.
• Keep the app in the foreground. Recognition pauses by design when Ever Teleprompter isn't on screen.
• Reduce background noise. Fans, air conditioning, and other voices in the room all degrade recognition accuracy.

The script jumps ahead or lags behind

The matcher deliberately refuses forward jumps it can't verify, which is why repeated phrases don't throw it off — but it also means an unusually large ad-lib can leave it waiting. Nudge the script manually to your current line and it will pick up again. If your script contains the same sentence several times over, adding a distinguishing word helps the matcher anchor.

Nothing happens at all when I speak

First confirm microphone permission and retry. If you are using a non-English language, your device may have no speech recognition service selected; check Android Settings › System › Languages & input for the default assist/voice input app. You can always use Time or Manual mode, which need no microphone.

The cue line

The cue line is the marker your active words are held against while the script scrolls. Open Options › Cue Line to configure it.

• Show cue line turns the marker on or off. Hiding it gives a cleaner frame when you're recording; showing it makes it far easier to find your place after a pause.
• Cue line vertical position slides the marker up or down the screen. Higher suits a phone mounted above eye level; lower suits reading from a device flat on a desk.

Whichever mode you're in, the script is scrolled so the current words sit at the cue line — so moving it changes how much of what's coming next you can see ahead of you.

Setting up with teleprompter glass

1. Open Options › Appearance.
2. Enable mirrored presenter text so the beam splitter reflects it the right way round.
3. Set horizontal and vertical margins so the text block sits inside the visible reflected area — the live preview at the top of the screen shows the result as you drag.
4. Raise text size until the words are comfortable at your actual standing distance, not at arm's length.
5. Move the cue line under Options › Cue Line so the active words land level with the lens rather than above or below it.
6. Switch to the dark colour scheme; a dark background reflects far less stray light into the lens.

Remote controllers

Compatible Bluetooth or USB presentation clickers, keyboards, and gamepads can control playback, move the script forward and back, and change Time-mode speed.

Pairing

Pair the device in Android's Bluetooth settings first. Once Android reports it as connected, its key presses reach Ever Teleprompter — there is no separate pairing step in the app.

Adjusting how far each press moves

Open Options › Remote Bluetooth Controller and set Words per press. Lower values give finer control for dense scripts; higher values move faster through long ones. Reset restores the default.

My clicker does nothing

Some clickers emit media or page-navigation key codes that Android routes elsewhere, and a few send nothing at all unless a specific mode is selected on the device itself. Check whether your clicker has a mode switch (often labelled for slides vs. media) and try the alternate setting.

Record Mode

Enable it under Options › Record Mode. The front-camera preview appears behind your script, and recordings save as MP4 to Movies/EverTeleprompter on your device.

Things worth knowing

• Record Mode uses Time scrolling, so set your words-per-minute before you roll.
• Both Camera and Microphone permissions are required.
• Files are written locally and never uploaded. Find them in your gallery or any file manager under Movies/EverTeleprompter.
• Long takes at high resolution consume storage quickly — check free space before a long session.
• When the take is done, open the built-in video editor to trim and export it.

Video editor

Ever Teleprompter includes an editor for the footage you shoot — or for video you import from elsewhere on your device with Choose video.

What you can do

• Trim a clip using the handles at either end of the timeline.
• Split a clip at the playhead, then Duplicate or Delete the pieces.
• Mute clip to drop its audio.
• Rotation to correct footage shot at the wrong orientation.
• Brightness to lift or pull down exposure, with a reset control.
• Undo and Redo for every edit.

Exporting

Press Export video to render the result. Export runs on your device and can take a while for long timelines — you can cancel it while it runs. Nothing is uploaded at any point.

Split is greyed out

Split needs a playhead position inside the clip, not at its very start or end. Scrub a little way into the clip and it becomes available.
